Pre-surgical instructions
In order to obtain the optimum positive results for our patients having traditional dental surgery, it is important that you adhere to the following instructions. 


PLEASE ASK YOUR PHYSICIAN FIRST:   FOR 5 DAYS PRIOR TO Surgery, do not take ASPIRIN, PLAVIX OR COUMADIN

 FOR 5 DAYS PRIOR TO Surgery do not take:   MOTRIN, ADVIL, NUPRIN, ALEVE, CELEBREX, OR ANY OTHER ANTI-INFLAMMATORY MEDICATIONS. NO VITAMIN E , FISH OIL OR ANY OTHER BLOOD THINNING MEDICATIONS. 


Also avoid these herbal supplements: GINSING, ST. JOHNS WORT, GARLIC, EPHEDRA, KAVA & GINKO

 

 If possible, Vitamin C, 1000mg. should be taken daily for one to two weeks prior to surgery and two weeks after surgery to facilitate healing.


 Please wear loose comfortable clothing to the office the day of the surgery.


 There are no dietary restrictions prior to surgery.  You may eat breakfast or lunch as usual.


 It will be necessary for you to return 7 to 14 days after the surgery to have your sutures removed.  If you are planning any trips or traveling by plane during this time please let us know. 


If you have been given prescriptions, please have them filled at least 24 hours prior to your procedure.  Follow the directions on the bottle.

 

A soft well balanced diet is recommended for at least the first week after surgery.  Detailed post-op instructions will be given to you on the day of the surgery.
